Emily Cathro
Kia ora, I'm Emily. Although I have lived in several places, I consider Ōtepoti/Dunedin as my home and have been living in Christchurch for the past 6 years. Having trained in social science (Human Geography), person-centred counselling and trauma-informed psychotherapy (The Conversational Model), I am a registered Psychotherapist (PBANZ) with experience in healthcare, private practice and the NGO sector.
While a person-centred and psychotherapy approach underpins my practice, I integrate a range of other modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness into my mahi.
I am interested in health care that considers the whole person and their context – physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental and relational health – and I aim to provide a warm and confidential space where you are able to talk freely, slow down enough to catch up with yourself, and grow your capacity to be present and live meaningfully in the face of life’s challenges. I feel privileged to do this work.
