Cassie Dunsire
Cassie joins the Encompass Health team after moving to Christchurch from Portland, Oregon, USA. Her practice is grounded in compassionate, patient-centred, and evidence-informed care, with a focus on helping people feel supported and empowered through rehabilitation.
Cassie has 17 years of physiotherapy experience across paediatrics, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and home health/community care. She spent nearly 10 years working in paediatrics with children, young people, and families navigating neuromotor conditions, developmental delay, complex medical needs, and functional challenges. Her work has centred on meaningful goal-setting, family education, participation, and helping people build confidence in their bodies and daily lives.
In addition to clinical practice, Cassie has taught in Biomechanics labs at Pacific University and served as a Clinical Instructor for third-year Student Physical Therapists from Oregon State University–Cascades.
Cassie completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2009, after earning her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University in 2006.
Outside of work, Cassie enjoys outdoor adventures with her partner, Nikki, and their young son. They are eager to explore New Zealand and happily welcome suggestions for places to see and things to do.
